Word Count

The status bar shows the word count of the open file, and "12 of 340 words" when you select text. Hover for characters, lines and the reading time. Click it, or run Show Document Statistics, for words, characters with and without spaces, lines, sentences, paragraphs and the reading time for the file and the selection.

Words are counted with Unicode letters, so it works for French, German, Greek, Cyrillic and more.

No permissions needed.
