Project Scaffold
Open an empty folder and run New Project from Template...:
| Template | You get |
|---|---|
| Static website | index.html, css, js |
| Node.js command line tool | package.json, bin, src, a node:test test |
| Express API | health check, an items route, tests |
| Python package | pyproject.toml, src layout, a pytest test |
| Flask web app | app.py, a template, a stylesheet |
| Rust program | Cargo.toml, main.rs with a test |
| Go module | go.mod, main.go, a test |
| PHP library | composer.json, a class, a PHPUnit test, public/index.php |
The templates are small on purpose, with a working test and a README, and no files that already exist are overwritten.
Add a File... adds one useful file: a .gitignore (Node, Python, Rust, Go, PHP or general), .editorconfig, .prettierrc, LICENSE (MIT), README, a Dockerfile (Node or Python), .dockerignore, docker-compose.yml, or a GitHub Actions CI workflow (Node, Python or Rust).
Run an Official Project Generator... shows the command and, after you confirm, runs it in the terminal: Vite (React, Vue or Svelte with TypeScript), Next.js, Laravel, Django or cargo new. These download packages, so they need your network and the tools installed.
Permissions
workspace.read and workspace.write to create files in the folder you opened, terminal for the generators.
